nothing personal&#8221;&#8211;that we can not have!\u00a0 It would mean that the cyberworld might have <em>some <\/em>virtues, besides\u00a0 the obvious pleasure of hearing our own voice ringing in our ears.But, who knows?\u00a0 It could happen.\u00a0 Well, actually it did happen here, but I am in digression as usual.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kaybuena.com\/images\/sm20090304BettyJanesWorld.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Betty Janes World\" src=\"https:\/\/kaybuena.com\/images\/sm20090304BettyJanesWorld.jpg\" alt=\"Betty Janes World\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0I am hoping that my husband is not too \u00a0far into Cyberspace and it&#8217;s pain, to help me get some rather dubious photos\u00a0 of\u00a0 &#8220;Betty Jane&#8221;, such as her &#8220;Before&#8221;pic, and her mug -shot as well, to say nothing of her &#8220;New Look,&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 with extra- stupid- fashionista-like images of Betty Jane and her post-operative surgeries.\u00a0\u00a0 (by the by, I know this is idiotic;\u00a0 sometimes that is a\u00a0needed thing.\u00a0 )<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When last we saw what was left of Betty Jane, her\u00a0 infamous &#8220;Monday Panties,&#8221;\u00a0 it seemed unlikely that Betty Jane could ever be herself again.\u00a0 There is still some doubt on her behalf\u00a0 in this question.\u00a0 \u00a0But, it is her life and she has to be the one to make up her own stupid stories, not me.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 While Charles (my husband)\u00a0is going on &#8220;his walk&#8221;\u00a0 (as if)\u00a0 I shall write of one of her most valiant encounters with the forces of evil, when she got her eyelashes (of her right eye)\u00a0blown off in an explosion, brilliantly produced by my brother, who will remain nameless, as he too wants no part of this endeavour.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As I might have indicated in some of these writings, my childhood was spent as a &#8220;military brat.&#8221;\u00a0 It was not unusual for my brother and I to watch the lousy newbies target practicing\u00a0 with\u00a0&#8220;nike&#8221; missiles.\u00a0 So to us, a gasoline splat, \u00a0lit with a match, and some decent running\u00a0, was less than no big deal &#8230; it was not even worth getting worked up about &#8230; and it&#8217;s effect was to be compared to what happens to a dirty kid when he (or she)\u00a0is forced to take a bath. Back to square one.\u00a0 No problem.\u00a0\u00a0 We were living close to Wright Patterson AFB, in Ohio in a new\u00a0 house in\u00a0a brand new\u00a0housing development, back in the early 1950&#8217;s.\u00a0 The row of houses were built and occupied, but few residences had landscaping &#8212; that was your own problem, but no problem to us, my brother and I.\u00a0 We began to formulate a story involving Betty Jane and &#8220;Foxie&#8221; (the main man) and the rest of our stuffed animals.\u00a0 As any good &#8220;action movie&#8221; has numerous close calls, we had developed ours, before the plot&#8230; So 1st. things\u00a0 first:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0We got some of the more active characters of our toys \u00a0involved in a really good chase through what was to be a completely benign\u00a0 gauntlet for our gang (so to speak) to weave a trail from one side of the yard to the other.\u00a0 My brother was older and more experienced in things like Charcoal Broiling outdoors, or putting\u00a0 the gasoline\u00a0in a lawn mower or a boat, than I was, having no experience at all in those culturally complex male-dominated actions &#8230; by a long shot (no pun intended.)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 OK. \u00a0The short story &#8212; long: We\u00a0 (&#8220;he did it'&#8221; &#8230;\u00a0 not me&#8230;&#8221;)\u00a0 splattered small amounts of\u00a0 gas\u00a0 here and there, and then proceeded to carry\u00a0 our buddies through the perilous\u00a0 terrain, while lighting and tossing matches in our wake.\u00a0 Needless to say, this was a less than brilliant way to spend a quiet afternoon, however we survived that, with no casualties (other than the horror of the neighbors&#8217; version of\u00a0said event.\u00a0 Betty Jane&#8217;s eyelashes\u00a0 (of her right eye&#8230;) did not.\u00a0 She stayed that way until I was so bored as to do something about it 58 years later,\u00a0even though the space- time continuum remained relative to normal for a couple of deviant pre-schoolers- who grew into adults and then fairly cool geezers.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As you can imagine, I am sure, my mother was less than pleased with the resulted small &#8220;fox holes&#8221; we blew out of that bare dirt.\u00a0 I am sure that my father was not overly concerned, as he was somewhere in the skies over\u00a0 Barbados at the time.\u00a0 However, we made a start in the landscaping plan, which is always good to do.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The very bold and\u00a0brave &#8220;Betty Jane&#8221; didn&#8217;t even cry when that happened.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oh, well, back to the present<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0 We were involved in our usual drama of\u00a0 a personal nature, when out of that where in no-where\u00a0 re-enters my strangely intriguing\u00a0 main character once again, Ms. Betty Jane Abbitt.\u00a0 So she&#8217;s a doll.\u00a0 Get over it.\u00a0 So I&#8217;m over 60.\u00a0 Get over that too.\u00a0 This sort of silliness \u00a0is most relevant in these [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[3,21],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-192","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-the-betty-jane-chronicles","category-true-and-unusual-stories"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack_shortlink":"https:\/\/wp.me\/p8R4qt-36","jetpack-related-posts":[{"id":41,"url":"https:\/\/blog.kaybuena.com\/blog\/betty-janes-laundry-day\/","url_meta":{"origin":192,"position":0},"title":"1.
